This film tells the story of the poor little girl who must sell matches to support herself and her wicked father, and of the Christmas Eve when nobody would buy her wares. Based on the story by Hans Christian Anderson., On a cold Christmas Eve, a poor, young girl tries to sell her basket of matchsticks to passersby. Everyone is in too great a hurry or too busy thinking about themselves to notice the young girl. Finally, the girl is left alone in the cold night with no food and little warmth.
