Description: Dramatizes an excerpt from John Steinbeck's novel, The Red Pony. Mrs. Tiflin's father comes to the Tiflin ranch for a visit, and there is endless telling of his adventures as a wagon leader during the great westward migration. These stories are exciting to young Jody, but tedious to his father, who complains bitterly of having to hear them repeated so often. How the family reacts to the old man's presence creates an unforgettable drama of clashing personalities as well as deep insight into the American frontier.
