CBPF.; One of Rene Clair's greatest achievements, a slight, romantic musical comedy, full of wit and high spirits, about a pair of young lovers who lose a lottery ticket worth a million francs and then chase it frantically across Paris. This film is the best European musical comedy of the early sound period. The sets of Lazare Meerson, sometimes unreal and dreamlike, sometimes realistic, are perhaps his masterpiece and influenced the future course of art direction in film.
