[Silence]. [Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.] ...And the Attorney General to look into and investigate the situation immediately. I'm in California to engage in a campaign to mobilize support for the Civil Rights bill and also to mobilize support for the struggle to keep the Rumford bill, the Fair Housing bill, from being repealed. This is the religion... religious witness and I think this is significant because this whole issue is at bottom a moral issue. [Silence]. And since we started just last Wednesday we've had a great deal of resistance and terror from the Klan element of the white community. And just this morning... they shot into the beach house that I had leased for the staff of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. And it seems to be a determined attempt to engage in any method to block that movement. In fact, they have threatened assassination and everything else but we intend to continue the struggle there because we do not feel that the oldest city of the United States ought to be engaged in such unjust and evil acts. The Southern Christian Leadership Conference is beginning a massive movement in St. Augustine, Florida to break down all of the barriers of racial segregation in that the oldest city of our nation. ...of the religious leaders and religious people of this state supporting these massive rallies. I will be back in Los Angeles for the 3:30 rally on Sunday afternoon at the Coliseum and I look forward to a great rally on that occasion.
