[Ambient airport terminal noise] [KTLA reporter, Dick Garten] What success did you have with the problems of the cities in the East? [Mayor Tom Bradley] I had some, ah, [Bradley] I had some, ah, good conversations with representatives on Wall Street. [Bradley] We're going to be selling the bonds tomorrow. [Bradley] But there was, ah, an excellent reception that they gave us. [Bradley] And I feel confident we're gonna get, [Bradley] good sale price on the bonds. [No audio] [Ambient airport terminal noise] [Garten] Mayor, welcome back. Good to see you. [Garten] So rate hikes, in the electric power. Does this fit into the schedule of your thinking? [Bradley] Well, the precise rate increases that have been asked for, [Bradley] are to be discussed by the City Council. [Bradley] And I've indicated that I'll wait until they, [Bradley] ah, dispose of them and then I'll deal with it. [Bradley] I have no way of knowing what the Council is going to do. Whether they will change them reject them or approve them. [Bradley] And, ah, instead of going through that exercise beforehand I'll wait and, ah, react after. [Garten] Are you a little disappointed that the cuts they're making in your proposed cuts of, ah, the next fiscal budget? [Bradley] Well, it's really the budget under which we are now operating. [Bradley] I was pleased with the cuts that they supported, [Bradley] ah, on last Friday. [Bradley] And, ah, they had sustained almost everything that I had asked for, [Bradley] up to the end of their discussion at five o'clock, on Friday afternoon. [Garten] Ah, you've been away a day and, ah, [Garten] they're working again today. [Unintelligible] [Bradley] I have no idea what they have done with, [Bradley] today's discussions. [Garten] Mr. Mayor, you've been traveling quite a bit. One of the things you criticized about, [Garten] Mayor Yorty was his traveling. [Garten] Ah, have you been able to, [Garten] keep up both ends of the business? [Bradley] Yes, and I've done it rather well, I think. The trips which I've taken have been to Washington. [Bradley] To get some more money. To get some help for the city. [Bradley] Sacra, Sacramento for the same purpose. [Bradley, over terminal annoucements] And I expect to be taking a number of trips dealing with the city business.
