This charming, silent Ko-Ko Song Car-Tune is one of a series of 47, three-minute-long cartoons that were produced and released between 1924 and 1927. They were produced by Max Fleischer and Dave Fleischer, pioneering the use of the "Follow the Bouncing Ball" device used to lead audiences in theater sing-alongs. The Song Car-Tunes also pioneered the application of sound film to animation.
This particular Car-Tune features "My Old Kentucky Home" and dates to 1926. It was one of sixteen films in the group to originally be released with a soundtrack; the remaining 31 titles were released silent, designed to be played with live music in theaters.

The concept of the "Bouncing Ball" used in the cartoon, has become such an established cultural icon, that it has been used in television commercials to sell all sorts of products from sleeping tablets to cat food.
