and children from the creative dramatics classes of the school just imagine that's what we're doing today in fact in fancy the boys and girls are rummaging through an old trunk which Miss crisp brought with her today we want to see what their imaginations can do with the interesting objects discovering all of you in the world there are many many things to see if you know how to look and many things to hear if you know how to listen and to smell and taste and touch if you sharpen your senses and then lots of useful tools all your family or friends or people you meet on the street the people on the bus people you pictures in the paper people you read about in books all they're ready for you to observe and understand but it takes imagination to see beyond what is the eye or the ear so when you are imaginatively aware of your surroundings you are stirring up hundreds and hundreds of ideas and impressions and experiences with which you can make all different kinds of combinations that's to create but of course when you create you need a little spark something to start you so we have here a troop of objects and the boys and girls are trying to find out an object that will them them to create a character now what about have you all found something how can you carry them all oh right damned under No will you briefly show us what you've chosen and what character you're going to create it discussable into the character my old man and I work in the railroad yard to make sure the trains get through all right and the protect the place an old man in a railroad yard I'm an old Chinese man this stops wait melimeli thought all right lady oh I have a little birdie in a gilded cage oh I think you're a birdie why yes'm what's all this is it next to learn yet oh my you have your hands full oh yes I have them in my time oh yes I'm an old lady but now I just sit on my watch and rock and watch the time go back to nice old ladies well maybe I could sell you folks something I have everything in this little box here now would you like to buy something unique something that you have in a house now don't tell me your sales no now our problem is now we have characters we have two nice old ladies I'm not oh excuse me ah-ah-ah for to-20 now watch and say you're not any 9 years job I should tell you something to hide your age we're now 89 years young 29 years old a Salesman a nice little Chinese man who makes very very very very good and you know what watchman now our problem is how can you put those caring just together how can we create a situation in which they will all be involved where shall it happen what will happen make an idea well maybe I could be in the restaurant chain dresser and they come in and want to buy some food we could be in an international hotel or on a ship or something and we could all be there meet oh I love it wanted to go on a trip you can up well I was thinking maybe there could be a storm and they didn't have to stop at my place because the bridge washed out ahead this again I'll be honest they'd all be on this train getting off oh goodness stuff it in Common Era tote ha ha now we'll have to decide now whether you like I like you good all right I am terrified alone you know I was thinking that it's been raining and the bridge washed out ahead so we I had to stop the train with my trusty land man and we all have to go inside in the railroad house this is not a large town maybe a hundred people but it's a good place to serve I'm Jason and I used mm and all of you then all of you are in on the train now all right now what happens it has to reach a climax and end up well after they meet rising go away to reach a climax and probably be dead it stopped raining and they all take leave and they could tell it dude you could show their characters clashing it on a different character between these two older people our baby yeah he could say yeah well you can come to my place while I'm fixing the bridge and then that's your place yeah and have some chop suey miss Rowley I wish you know I could come over there and you can stand up yeah I could say he doesn't she could it didn't move out of your house or outside all this will be Indian when I could to inspect my house with you to be my sisters and all right and then you finally are made comfortable and operating we could go on our way all right all right now folks you need to go ahead and fix the place you can use anything things you want and then we'll see what happens yeah well I will make you see what's that going to do now when Lou needs to play a job okay house to play school or play cops and robbers or Indian which when you were little and you didn't plan it it's a package this began and ended that's whenever you wanted to choose and say you were playing an Indian well inflate an Indian you didn't play a particular Indian with a character all of his own now you see what we're doing is a little different we have what you wouldn't call a rules but they are guides or steps in our way of doing things first of all we try to get hold of a character and try to get as much depth of understanding as we can then we plan a little plot the situation with the beginning climax which is the turning point at the end and then we play together and when we find a character we keep that character and we listen to the other characters and react to them and react to what's going on so that in the end we have a a situation that we bring to life with all of its implications and let's see what's happening are you ready yeah yeah I better flag down that train because the ridge washed up it already I wonder if we'll have time in town I need a cell phone well I must know I'm here often greater trains are stopping ah it's starting to a stop sign I've never made like this it's not oh how about the monsoon all right all right um well bridge is washed out done track a little bit so why don't you all come over to my house wish the meeting the mattress truck we'll be able to take you very much madam pretty back and make you some very close just wait where are you no no nobody oh I can see your knees some of my notches my very frankly been ago I think train is ready I get the point I get the point company go ahead oh thank you for your hospitality Oh goodbye people let's go don't get so sentimental in it got everything thank you you know I keep going grain is going alright we bagged our the train is leaving right now what about that did we accomplish what is that ice to do you can see better now alright did we accomplish what we set out to do everybody get in what they want to say it means we can I saw definite characters oh absolutely and well how could you see you and I thought man was a Salesman finally one of the cells as long as we couldn't the train broke down or something you may as well sell even more very fun oh now did we all listen sometimes we don't listen well I don't think we do vindaloo listen enough well how at the times when it could have been improved with a listen more here where what do you think well and Dan was selling some things if everybody would have listened wrong more yeah yes natural people are one a in a situation like that don't want to hear about home selling something they're not wrong did you tell me in the beginning that the bridge was washed out yeah yes but you have an alternate route they hit all well yeah I didn't know that and that's one thing he didn't make clear to me I thought my water drains over yeah Monica was just raining yeah not exactly she could have been they were going to accept the fridge well maybe when houses I'm sorry but we must leave miss Crist and the boys and girls now I hope you've enjoyed playing fact and fancy along
