Description: This short clip captures the Albert Sidney Johnston High School marching band performing in what is likely the 1964 Aqua Festival parade in downtown Austin. Led by drum major Mike Tierney, the band makes its way south down Congress Avenue. Albert Sidney Johnston High School opened in January 1960. It remained in constant operation until 2008, when it was closed after being classified as “academically unacceptable” by the Texas Education Agency for five consecutive years. The school was repurposed as Eastside Memorial High School.
