Description: This news segment for Houston’s KPRC-TV, filmed on January 29, 1962, documents Jo and Jimmy Hoffa arriving in Houston while on tour for the Women’s Auxiliary of the Democratic, Republican, Independent Voter Education (DRIVE) initiative. DRIVE was launched in 1960 to help bolster political activism for the Teamsters Union, for which Hoffa served as president. Part of the initiative was to encourage women to take political action to help the organization. The Hoffas held dinners in San Antonio and Houston as part of the DRIVE program. This footage was captured 13 years before Jimmy Hoffa disappeared. Jimmy Hoffa was officially declared dead in 1982, and his death still remains a mystery.
