The film shows the self-isolation of Japan until Commodore Perry, the first Japanese to emigrate to Hawaii, then to the west coast, the exclusion act of 1924, the deterioration of relations with Japan until Pearl Harbor attack, the internment of the Japanese- Americans, the Nisei in the armed services, and finally the passage of the Immigration and Nationality Act.
