Description: Dramatizes James Agee's allegory about a family of cows which raises questions about the problem of resistance to truth, the risks of individuality versus the pressure to conform, and the tensions between generations. Depicts a mother cow as she tells her children the story of a young bull who tried to warn the other cattle of the suffering they would endure at the hands of man, but met only skepticism. Observes that the young calves, like the others before them, refuse to accept the story and resolve to discover the truth for themselves. Features the voices of Maureen Stapleton and Orson Welles.
