Description: Chaim Pupko, a Yiddish writer, married to a bearded woman, has invested in the stock market and become rich. Pupko urges Isaac Bashevis Singer to write about him, but Singer refuses, accusing Pupko of having stooped to bribery. Pupko falls very ill and Mrs. Pupko calls on Singer to confront him. Singer moves in and out of his own short story.
