[Music] grandma lived with us since I was five in a way she was my best friend I don't have any brothers or sisters almost every day after school we played Hearts the card game 2 weeks ago Grandma had a stroke and was taken to the hospital today I made a painting for her to help her get better [Music] dad why are you H so of Linda as soon as I got to the office this morning your mother called they called from the hospital and said that grandmother was very ill when we got there grandmother was dead grandmother had something called pneumonia pneumonia is when it gets harder and harder for you to breathe especially old people do you [Music] understand when can I give Grandma this picture Grandma's [Music] dead later our relatives started coming Aunt Sandy and Uncle Bob came first they brought Aunt Betty Grandma's sister Holly's my favorite cousin it's always fun to play with her you want to give me hand come on girls it's cold come on inside what you do you try and get rid of the hearts and say I put down a five of Hearts but you try and put down a lower heart so I can I just brought him some fresh coffee and I'd like you to have some you hardly had a thing at dinner please end of the whoever coffee a Betty are you all right a PTY I must have been daydreaming it's your turn would you like some coffee it's your turn what a beautiful mother we had RZ you remember the days when I played soccer back in high school and and she was so worried you know about me about my getting hurt and then I remember that one day why don't we drive thisat up and bloody and and she was standing there right in the front door I because my card was high I knew she wanted want to tell me right then to stop I wish I brought my Monopoly that's a fun game heart's a really fun one she learn how to play them pretty good do you know that I actually why don't we play I like that game I was just a little tight I stood up at the top of the banisters looking through wasn't supposed to be there and there was Sam down on his knees what's a stroke gazing at him lovingly my dad says it's like a heart attack except in your brain Grandma couldn't talk right what's a heart attack like I don't know one thing we can always remember about Grandma when she was alive she was really alive [Music] can I have a Cook Out buddy what happens when you die that night I played with my old lady d I made believe she was Grandma but I knew she wasn't really it's time for bed now I couldn't fall asleep I just couldn't I felt dizzy in my stomach and I thought I might get really [Music] sick I felt like Grandma left me alone like she didn't want to be with me anymore I kept thinking about times I didn't do what grandma said [Music] then I heard Mom and Dad's voices in the [Music] hall I'm afraid that if I try to talk to her now I I might break down let me talk to her I think I will be easier for me no we both should together I I want her to know why I feel this way she's confused should we talk to her now no she needs to rest now by the next day most of my cousins came from out of town I get you got get one of ours I'm an Indian worshiping a god [Music] [Applause] and I couldn't help her in any way stop it I had a dog once when I was about 10 years old and we were just sort of playing around you know chasing each other hey and we sort of ran out in the street [Applause] I got is suppos to fall I'm playing my own game not yours scare you can't catch me come on CL I can get up we all know you're faking come on hurry up hey Linda are you okay you're going to get it you're going to get it fool you didn't I PE will you help me get ready for lunch I've got peanut butter with jelly and peanut butter without jelly where's Grandma Scott go play okay but where's Grandma just before dark I talked with my parents upstairs why couldn't the doctors make Grandma well Linda death's a natural thing everything dies things are born grow up Blossom grow old and die are you going to die someday but not for a long time grandma died because she was old she' gotten weaker couldn't cook for us had to take medicines what happens when you die your body stops working you stop breathing your heart stops pumping you stop thinking where do you go it's somewhere we believe but we can't know for sure what we do know is that Grandma will go on living in our memories and we'll never lose those [Music] Linda tomorrow is grandmother's funeral would you like to come with us [Music] the funeral was early in the morning there were lots of people I didn't know I guess they were Grandma's friends all the while I kept remembering times with Grandma [Music] [Music] on the other [Music] [Music] [Music] now [Music] by Mercy almighty God we commend this thy servant in the sure and certain hope of the Resurrection to eternal life for we know that if our Earthly House of this Tabernacle were dissolved we have a building of God a house not made with hands Eternal in the heavens fear not I am the first and the last say the Lord I am he that liveth and was dead and behold I am alive forever more thanks be unto God who giveth us the victory this is your mother when she was a bank and this is me and this is your mother's grandma day Grandma it's weird to think about people from before I was born I suppose you that's when I was still young everybody has a time to live and the time the knowledge and love of God and of his son Jesus Christ Our Lord and the blessing of God Almighty the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit be upon you and remain with you always amen please let me know if there's any way I can help thank you that night I still couldn't sleep I just felt sad about Grandma are you [Music] crying it's all right to cry especially together I was her little girl you are my
