Introduces the natural immunity and defenses of the human body to disease. Presents demonstrations and the use of photomicrography to help visualize physiological and bacterial actions that cannot be readily seen. Divides the body defense system into two parts: outer body--skin, mucous lining and stomach acids; and inner body--white blood cells, organs such as the spleen and liver, and the lymph system. Demonstrates how the antitoxins counteract the infectious diseases that enter the body., Outer body defenses described include the skin, passages of the nose and throat and stomach acids. Among the inner body defenses are lymph glands, chemical antibodies, white blood cells, spleen and liver.
