Amish looking men in overalls and Abe Lincoln beards split wood and wind wire to create the original ‘Keystone’ fence. They work on building a more efficient fence building machine. Shot of a room full of executives,planning for progress. Fence manufacturing plant, big industry. Inter titles ’High Fashion Furniture’ A couple looks at an upholstered chair in a showroom. Men gloss down dining table tops, A huge machine carves many ornate chair legs simultaneously. Men construct chair frames. Men and women stuff upholstery. Final product is displayed in showroom. /Intertitles’ Building through the Ages’- great shots of a man carving ‘The Last Supper’ out of wood. Good shots of laborers constructing church pews, theater seats, barber chairs and school desks. Intertitles ’Pill Taking Made Easy’ Pharmaceutical Company machinery makes easy to swallow gelatin capsules. Great shot of ladies in uniform separating the disfigured pills. Pills are measured and weighed evenly and distributed into bottles. A woman pours out a bottle of gelatin encased materials. Inter titles-‘Suit-able For Summer’ Men in a fabric plant separate mohair. The mohair is put through a machine that combines it with nylon and synthetic fibers. It is wound on a spool. Women check endless spindles of yarn. the yarn is turned into fabric on enormous looms. The fabric then goes through a dying process. The cloth is dried and then washed. Women hem edges. Man looks at suit made with newly made fabric. Inter titles- ‘Living up to a Name!’ An Electric and Gas company. A generator is lifted 8 stories above the plant by a crane. Inside the plant men handle huge pipes, and do arc-welding. Men play with a wall of dials and knobs. Multiple shots of the electric power plant. Inter titles- ‘Cracker Craftsmen’- National Biscuit Co. Men in white sift and mix huge quantities of batter. the batter is taken to a room that regulates the temperature. The batter is then put in a proof room where it is left to rise. It si then put through a machine that rolls it out into sheets and imprints the Premium name on the cracker. On a conveyor the uncooked crackers are put into a gigantic oven and baked. Other examples of Nabisco products are shown on conveyor belts and then packaged by women in uniform. Boxes of biscuits are put on yet another conveyor into a Nabisco truck which drives out of frame.
