Description: Shows how the Plains Indians existed on the grasslands of the Central United States. Emphasizes their dependence on the buffalo for much of their food, clothing, and utensils. Presents examples of the Indians' quillwork, beadwork, and painting.

Complete Record: The film opens with scenes of the plains and a large herd of buffalo on on of the government buffalo reserves. The importance of the buffalo to the Plains Indians is pointed out, including scenes showing some of the uses the Indians made of the buffalo : the pemmican bowl, the buffalo horn spoon and the drying of buffalo meat. The Plains Indians also hunted deer, antelope, elk, and other animals for their meat and hides. Hides were used in making jackets, leggings, moccasins, dresses and many household articles. The film also shows the many activities of the Plains Indians.
