Presents four segments on the history of New York City’s Harlem. Begins with ‘The Early Years - 1600 -1930” to trace Harlem from a Dutch fishing village to a black neighborhood (we don’t have this first reel). ‘Depression Years - 1930 - 1940” looks at Harlem’s ethnic heritage, show business. “ Toward Freedom - 1940 - 1965 “ examines the years of protest and World War II. “ Toward A New Day - 1965 - 1980 “ looks to the future.
