Human Beginnings

Shows what a group of 6 year old children in school believe about the origin of human life as expressed in their own drawings, and describes their varying attitudes toward the advent of a new baby (childbirth) in the family. Teacher draws pictures of babies in the womb. Portrays how one young boy (Tommy Johnson) whose parents have prepared him for the new situation, reacts to the coming of a baby sister. Progressive for its time this film says “The baby comes out of this opening, called the vagina”, shows close-ups of breast feeding. Kids from the Walt Whitman School in Manhattan used as actors.
