five have been poisoned by eating and drinking the materials found here and too many older children and adults have died from the careless use of drugs even aspirin when taken in large doses can be hazardous so never take anything from The Medicine Chest even aspirin without first getting your parents permission they will be able to read the labels on the containers for you just remember your parents do not hide candy in your medicine chest and you should not play with the jars bottles and boxes your whole family can help by storing all medicines out of younger children's reach as high up as possible this applies even to bottles with child proof caps now here's another safety hazard in the bathroom if you should touch a faulty electrical Appliance with wet hands you could be shocked or electrocuted [Applause] I thought you knew better than to handle electrical appliances when you're in the tub or shower okay Mom I'll take him to my room that's a good idea do you realize what you need you could have electrocuted yourself you've got to keep your head fastened on if you have infants or toddlers in your house there are several things you can do to help keep them safe babies by Nature love to put things in their mouths but Toddlers and infants can choke on small parts of toys such as little car wheels or teddy bear eyes so take away any toys that have small parts she can poisonous so never put any part of any plant or flower in your mouth even those growing in your own home now let's take a look in the kitchen when it comes to home accidents this is where a great deal follow this rule in every room of your home next let's see what safety hazards are down in the basement sure enough here's one of the worst an empty unused refrigerator this may look like an exciting place to play but actually it's one of the most dangerous you see refrigerators and freezers are airtight once the door is shut no air can get inside this means if you should be trapped inside you would quickly suffocate so stay out never play inside this applies to any refrigerator anywhere remind your parents to remove the door of any refrigerator or freezer not in use it only takes a minute
