Genre: home movie
Year Published: 1939
Format: 16mm
Description: This silent 16mm home movie was likely shot by someone who owned a Coca-Cola distributorship in the 1939 or 1940.. The film shows various activities with Coke, as well as some family scenes. Portions of the film may have been shot surreptitiously, following delivery men on their routes. At :40 in the film, a desk with the sign "R. H. Bennett, Jr." is seen. According to the Internet, R.H. Bennett, Jr. lived in Atlanta, Georgia and his son Richard Boykin Bennett went on to run the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Central Wisconsin. So perhaps this film is from either Wisconsin or Georgia... Based on some further research we think this might be Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin due to the presence of a Krause's Cafe on Main Street at around 6:10 of this film and a sign at 6:32 that advertises the circus in Chippewa Falls in 1940! At 1;34, a Coca-Cola bottling plant is seen with long lines of bottles being automatically filled. At 2:39 a Coke deliveryman drinks from the classic long bottle. At 2:48 a color segment shows stands of flowers and at 2:49 a man in a Coke shirt working at a desk (probably R.H. Bennett, Jr.). At 3:47 a used car lot is seen with a Coca-Cola delivery truck nearby. At 4:08, a Coke truck is parked on a town's main street. At 4:50 men are seen loading a truck with Coke palettes. At 5:54 a delivery truck is seen at a gas station. At 6:00, what appears to be an International C-300 delivery truck is shown. At 6:39 a Coca-Cola refrigerated cooler is shown and men take long drinks. At 7:16 a Coca-Cola truck is seen and at 7:23 the Broadway Bar. At 9:55, a color segment features a yellow Coke Permalux delivery truck. At 10:12 a "Drink Coca-Cola" sign. At 10:55 bottles are loaded onto more trucks.
