Description: This silent home movie shows the beginning of a journey conducted by Charles Lindbergh and Juan Trippe, the CEO of Pan American Airlines in September, 1929. Trippe and his associates planned to extend Pan Am's network through all of Central and South America, and purchased a number of ailing or defunct airlines to win most of the government's airmail contracts to the region. Trippe toured Latin America with Lindbergh to negotiate landing rights in a number of countries, including Barranquilla on SCADTA's home turf of Colombia, Maracaibo and Caracas. Supposedly this film shows the farewell ceremony at the start of the trip, but this has not be independently confirmed. Neither Trippe nor Lindy is visible in the film. Pan American Airways Fokker F-10 or Ford 5-AT Tri-Motor aircraft are visible.
