Home Movie: 010718 (silent)

Description: In the 1930s as color film began to be available, both early color and black and white stocks are put to use in this reel documenting a tourist's visit to everyday life on the streets and in the marketplaces of Mexico, showing locations in Guerrero and in Michoacán that are less commonly photographed in home movies. With emphasis on Catholic devotional sites and open air markets offering a huge array of goods. Includes a visit to Janitzio Island in Lake Pátzcuaro. Goofy language in intertitles is disrespectful in places but the locations and people are photographed with respect.
