Description: Description: In 1929 privileged places and ceremonies in Japan are documented by tourists with unusual access. Arriving by cruise ship, the tourists visit many landmarks including Torii Gate and Kiyumizu-dera Temple. They then document Shinto religious ceremonial activity as well as a long and richly expressive peasant Samurai parade. With appearances by Japanese military personnel and possible government officials, and with the tourists dressed in traditional Japanese kimonos participating to some extent in ritual activity.
