The landscapes and people of Manila are secondary to the camera's interest in colonial architecture and prison yard exercises at (Old) Bilibig Prison, now the Manila City Jail, photographed by someone with access to the central guard tower. Yet horse-drawn carts on the streets and the working waterway of the Pasig River offer a sense of the rhythm of daily life.
