Description: This silent film looks at the eight departments in the College of Home Economics at Iowa State College (University). Shows applied art students decorate fabric, paint, work with metal, learn about furnishing on a budget, flower arrangement, and critique art. Textile and clothing students learn about purchasing fabrics, designing clothing, and fitting patterns. Also shows household equipment courses where students learn about selecting, operating, and maintaining household appliances along with commercial training, and testing of washing and drying methods. Shows the food and nutrition department, some of the labs, institution management, and the tea room. Also shows activities in the child development department with children of pre-school age.
