HIBERNATION AND OTHER FORMS OF DORMANCY

Shows various animals adjusting to the hardships of their environment during the winter months. As food becomes scarce and temperatures change, some animals, such as the ground squirrel, go into hibernation. Some, like the spadefoot toad, go into a deep sleep called estivation; others, such as the bear and raccoon, merely sleep for long periods of time.
