Description: James is portrayed recalling his literary and personal life. A life that was often filled with stirring successes and drastic failures. He was born into a privileged family. A family that also produced William James, the philosopher. William tended throughout his career to overshadow the accomplishments of his younger brother. His failure to become involved in the Civil War lead to his expatriation, and that in turn to a feeling of frustration. He experimented unsuccessfully in many literary forms, most notably as a playwright and poet. His well-known works: "Daisy Miller, " "Turn Of The Screw, " "The Ambassadors" and "The Golden Bowl, " brought him some measure of notoriety.
