Gusaling Pilipino

Description: Original camera footage edited for broadcast for KNTV San Jose Channel 11 news. Includes national, local, and sports coverage. The broadcast script for this date has not survived. Reel 1: Segment 1 (sound): Footage from one of Billy Graham's services at Earl's Court in London. Footage of large crowd filling the auditorium, people filing through and looking at the camera, including many young adults. Voice-over: "It is becoming increasingly evident that this is a youth crusade. Thousands of youth with little or no church relationship are responding for the call to commitment to Christ. I am convinced that the hope for Britain lies in its youth. And underneath the exhibitionism, the rebellion cynicism and parties lie hearts longing for spiritual reality. This has been the surprise to me. I believe there is a whole generation of young people waiting to be reached with a simple and clear cut gospel proclamation." The footage ends with Graham walking down a residential London street surrounded by people, including children. Segment 2 (silent): Plymouth Trouble Shooting competition, where high school mechanics compete to see who can repair a Plymouth car first. Shots of cars and teams from Washington High School (Fremont, Calif.), Tennyson High School (Hayward, Calif.), Henry Gunn High School (Palo Alto, Calif.). Car #71 from New Bedford Vocational High School (New Bedford, Mass.) rolls through the finish line. Reel 2: Segment 1 (silent): Pickets outside the Press Club of San Francisco, "Support Your California Farm Workers." Cut to older man speaking at the podium inside the club, with cameras and microphones set up to the side of the floor. Segment 2 (sound): KNTV's Monterey reporter Dennis Rowedder interviews a young amateur golfer who is competing at Pebble Beach. The young man is wearing glasses, with a side part. He's asked how many times he's competed, says this is his 4th year, and he's been improving every year. Last year he made it to the semi-finals, so he hopes to make it to the finals this year. Rowedder says that the defending champion has marked him as a contender, and the man says he and Grant (?) are from the same hometown, but they're in the same bracket this year, so they'll be competing earlier than the final. Segment 3 (sound): Dennis Rowedder interviews a bearded man picketing outside the Franklin Barber Shop. "Unfair please do not patronize." Two two man have a genial conversation about the fact that the picket is a professional, hired around the country to picket and walk. Rowedder asks him what the job is like, is he married and does his wife approve. Reel 3: Segment 1 (color, silent): NASA film of Apollo rocket module being tested in lab; simulations; computers; piece of equipment being tested in gyroscope Segment 2 (silent): Sign for Superior Court Courtroom No. 12 Robert F. Peckham presiding; group of men filing into the courtroom, chatting. Reel 4 (sound): Committee meeting, appears to be Santa Clara County water board or planning commission.
