Complete Record: The program was compared to the script in this collection. The story starts on script p. 4; rocks have changed to chains, barn has changed to windmill, knife into a pitchfork. Webb tries to kill Festus. The program keeps to the outline of the script, but some characterizations have changed, and the dialog has changed in form and sometimes order. Webb threatens to kill both his daughter and George (her boy friend) instead of just George as in the script. Essentially, the story is the same. Fstus's Aunt Theodore ("Thede") comes to visit just in the nick of time to use her rough-and-ready wisdom to marry a young couple against the woman's father's (Webb's) wishes. Dillon gets mixed up in the plot because Thede has a habit of making her own alcoholic beverages, which is illegal.
