A voice-over begins while the film is still black and continues on and off through the first half of the film. There is music throughout the film. The film opens with still images of a man and a woman, then the camera sweeping along ferns. We see aged people walking through a park and then the film focuses on one couple, whose kids have now all moved out. There are images of them walking through a forest, while they speak in the voiceover of the uncertainty of aging and their commitment to each other despite the changing of their family roles. There is a scene of the couple getting their faces painted as clowns and then kaleidoscopic-lens images of a parade. The second half of the film shows sexually intimate scenes of the couple, mostly in their bedroom.
