Description: An incisive examination by English artist Derek Phillips of how the individual, represented by the symbol "I" has his idiosyncracies - and potentialities - processed out in order to be acceptable to the great community animal, Society. The animated film makes its point without words. We see the "I" being put through the normalizing process by "The Company" who supplies the animal's needs but who, in turn, takes control. The ornately drawn "I" fast becomes extinct, replaced by the standard typeface that fits the animal perfectly. The film is excellent for spurring debate on individuality, conformity, and the compromises people must make to live in a civilized world.
