Description: This program presents rare film clips of outstanding dancers: Anna Pavlova, Irene and Vernon Castle, and Argentinita, as well as performances by Alexandra Danilova and Frederick Franklin, to illustrate the importance of the dancer as the creator of a dance. Two sets of distinguished dancers perform the same roles from the balled “Le Beau Danube” to show how individual interpretation can vary the effect of the same choreography. Dance critic Walter Terry joins Miss Myers to discuss the importance of an interplay between choreographer and performer.
