Grasslands, The

Uses film sequences of a prairie fire to introduce the concept that much of the present-day grassland evolved as a result of fires which burned off the competing trees. Offers an overview of grassland communities of the world, including the pampas of Argentina and savanna of Africa, and stresses the fact that grass is a basic source of energy.
