Complete Record: The follow-up to 42nd Street has Dick Powell as a songwriter threatened with disinheritance by his wealthy family if he marries chorus girl Keeler. The couple are again backed by a strong cast of Warner's regulars - Joan Blondell, Warren William, Aline MacMahon, Ned Sparks and Ginger Rogers. Berkeley choreographed the production numbers including the ironic We're in the Money, the risque Pettin' in the Park which expresses the main theme of the narrative and the surreal Shadow Waltz with sixty violin playing chorines expressing first the repression then the fulfillment of sexual desire. The finale, My Forgotten Man, stands outside the main narrative as a delirious piece of overt social comment.
