Description: A story about a fatherless Hispanic-American youth who resolves to earn money for his family's return to Puerto Rico. Originally shown on television as an ABC after school special. Based on the book by Gloria Gonzalez., Gaucho, a fatherless adolescent living in New York's El Barrio, feels betrayed by the marriage of his brother Angel. Angel had promised to take Gaucho and his mother back to Puerto Rico where Gaucho was born, but the long-awaited trip was abandoned. Resolving to earn the money himself, Gaucho becomes the unwitting accomplice to a petty criminal.
