Description: Outlines the structure of the stomach and demonstrates the factors responsible for the secretion of gastric juice. Shows a surgical operation for establishing a Pavlov pouch in a dog and the operation of cesophagostomy. Illustrates the insertion of a gastric cannula and a heidenhain, or denervated gastric pouch, in two other dogs. Shows the gastric response to distension of the stomach by introducing a balloon into the stomach and inflating it with air.
