Galveston: Port and Playground of the Southwest

Produced by the Galveston Chamber of Commerce, Galveston: Port and Playground of the Southwest is a 1950s promotional film that largely focuses on the city’s booming trade and shipping operations. Calling Galveston the “port of quickest dispatch,” the film overviews the many commodities that run in and out of the city’s harbor, from sulphur and cotton to grain and bananas. It also touches upon the attraction of Galveston’s beaches to tourists.
