Fun in the Hills (c.1970)

This educational film from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) examines the Texas Hill Country - its many cultures, natural beauty, festivals, cuisines, and state parks. Included among the many Hill Country events discussed are New Braunfels’ Wurst Fest, Stonewall’s Peach Jamboree, San Marcos’ Chilympiad, and the Austin Aqua Festival. Emphasizing the beauty of the region and its opportunities for various sports and recreation, the film wraps up by quoting Texas’ most famous native son, President Lyndon B. Johnson, who said of the Texas Hill Country, “it’s a breath of fresh air. It’s new strength. I go away ready to challenge the world.”
