Content Description
Services at the USS Maine Monument. Jefferson Caffery, United States Ambassador to Cuba, lays a wreath along with the Minister of Reading Services. Spanish-American War veterans, Admiral Freeman, and staff saluting. Appearing are: Caffery; Doctor Cosme de la Torriente, Secretary of State; provisional President Carlos Mendieta; and Roberto Mendez Penate, Secretary of Justice. Mendieta arrives at the services, shakes hands with Caffery and officials, and speaks. Also includes scenes of a crowd and Morro Castle in the distance; Cuban sailors and the infantry; the monument; writing on the memorial; and an airplane fly-over.
