Content Description
Various scenes of a football game played between the University of South Carolina and Duke University at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, SC. UofSC wins 24 to 6. This reel shows UofSC defense in the first half. GAME RECAP: Freshman QB Steve Swinehart led a second-half surge by the Gamecock offense that propelled Carolina to a 24-6 victory over the visiting Blue Devils. Swinehart energized the Carolina offense with a 57 yard sprint to set up a touchdown in the third quarter and then tossed a 36-yard strike to WR Phillip Logan to seal the victory for the Gamecocks. A short plunge by RB Kevin Long and a Britt Parrish 28-yard field goal in the first half gave Carolina a tenuous 10-6 halftime lead. HEAD COACHES: UofSC-Jim Carlen Duke-Mike McGee

This collection includes 16mm film and video shot by the University of South Carolina's Athletic Department from the 1940s to the 1990s. Most of the films document UofSC's football and basketball programs; a handful document the University's track-and-field program. The majority of films and videos show games played by the Fighting Gamecocks, both football and basketball teams, and include full games and highlights, with defensive and offensive wide shots, for training, scouting and recruitment purposes, as well as special events in the athletic calendar.
