Flowing Well! Oklahoma City Oil Field, 1930 | 16mm Film Scan

Description: A silent 16mm film from the completion of an oil well in January 1930, Prairie-Slick Hiddleston No. 5 out inthe Oklahoma City Oil Field. From the Oil & Gas Journal: "The Prairie Oil & Gas Co. and T. B. Slick's No. 5 Hiddleston, NW cor. SW SE, Section 19-11-2w, has been completed for 9185 bbls. in 19 1/2 hours." Showcases them releasing well pressure, running a bailer, the well clearing out water and mud, then oil flowing. I'm unsure of exactly the terminology to what's being done here, not being a petroleum engineer. This film is quite grainy, as it was underexposed. *Contact for Usage* 0:00 Opening Card 0:12 - Prairie Oil and Gas Officials Nelson Moody & Dana Kelsey 0:30 - View of derrick and gas separators 0:52 - Gates opened and gas pressure released 1:05 - Running the bailer 1:33 - Well starts cleaning itself, flowing oil 4:18 - Production of 471 barrels an hour #FlowingWell #OklahomaCity #OilField #1930 #16mmFilm #VintageOilDrilling #HistoricalFootage #PetroleumHistory #RetroFilm #RareFootage #IndustrialHistory #blowout
