Description: A compilation documentary which follows the history of Realist film from the earliest days until World War II. The film is presented in five sections - early Realist film and its divorce from film drama; foundations of the Realist film; romantic documentary on “Far-Off Lands”; the Realistic Documentary of “Life at home”; Realism and the Story Film - the Feature Film. Some of the films on display are: Nanook of the North, Rien que les heures, The General Line, Drifters etc.
