Exploring in space: the Van Allen radiation belts

Dr James Van Allen and other scientists explain some of the purposes and methods of obtaining information in exploratory space flights. Uses animated drawings, models and live photography to visualise the relationships between the earth, the sun, the magnetosphere, and the radiation belts, and to explain how radio equipped space craft explore the radiation regions.
