Description: Presented by international educational pictures. Back in 1600 B.C. Egypt used shadow pictures. Leonardo da Vinci happened accidentally to invent a camera obscura. In 1640 Kircher invented a magic lantern. Then came the urge to add movement and we see a comic figure which was used. In 1814 in England Dr. Rodet demonstrated the persistence of vision. In 1832 Plateau in Belgium added his contribution. In 1839 Daguerre invented the photograph—a wet plate. In 1860 Colman Sellers in Philadelphia illustrated synthetic motion. In 1889 at Rochester, George Eastman invented flexible celluloid film base. In 1890 Edison demonstrated his first movie talkie. Examples of pictures made on the old cylinder machine are given.
