[Music] this is erosion we'll show you why win-win and what they do to the land [Music] in the plains country from Canada to Mexico at a long seacoast and lake shores this is winter road the storms like this are simply clouds of topsoil the most that ain't gone away from the fields and pastures and scattered over a hundred [Music] Bojan can make a desert out of good farmland that is quietly wind erosion is bad for people and farm beautiful machine it is bad for the farms because it strips off the good topsoil and farmers cat grow growth or raised fat cattle on a barren land left now here are some good-looking farms and no sign of growth there's an orange grove at a great spreading bean field they all look like they've had plenty of rain there is such a thing as too much rain especially if the land isn't being farmed wisely if the rolls run straight up and downhill for example look what happened [Music] well this is what happens when heavy rains for and the land is not protected and the water is not controlled we won't get any beans from this field for a long and even the field with its precious topsoil then washed away by a water erosion orange roll entirely destroyed by a water the years of hard work on the trees and on the land and the psalm itself all have been wasted because the farmer did not use his land wisely water erosion is not unusual it happens all over the country taking with it our valuable topsoil so the farmers can't use it anymore the watch's topsoil off the land first in sheet erosion that you can hardly see slowly and gently over the ground little rails are cut into the fields bandit goes faster and faster washing away bond [Music] the creeks are in the rise to flood stage [Music] good man and literally carrying away for us finally it reaches the ocean these are actual photographs of a topsoil from boring out into the Pacific Ocean along the California coast and topsoil in the ocean doesn't do us any good well that's what erosion is and what it does you can easily see that it's bad [Music] but we can stop erosion there is a cure known as conservation farming farming which uses the land wisely and protects it against erosion by water and by win conservation farming also produces more Klotz we need for food and clothing it is the kind of farming all America should use to protect our land and our future [Music]
