Description: Examines the art work of contemporary Eritrean male and female artists who fought in the war for liberation against Ethiopia which resulted in independence in 1991. Includes examples of the artists' work, interviews with the artists, and comments by the filmaker, Betty LaDuke, who has been to Eritrea several times since 1984 in order to document Eritrean art. Shows how the artists view their art as important for recording history about the war and for inspiring Eritreans in their attempts to build a new nation and society.
