Illustrates the structural scheme of episodic form in which an opening binary or ternary segment is followed by a contrasting binary or ternary section, after which the first segment is repeated. Explains how the middle part exhibits the qualities of a foil or episode, having a new theme, a new character or "mood", and generally a new key or tonality.
