Complete Record: There do not seem to be any titles at the beginning of the film Opening shot of Abe Lincoln talking to another man about the emancipation proclamation. Then he talks directly at the camera. He talks to the camera for a very long time and then a shot of an army general comes afterwards. The sound is kind of hard to understand because of the quality of the print. More shots of reenacted civil war veterans. More talk of Lincoln singing the emancipation proclamation. Another sergeant comes up and talks to the man. Cut to a meeting of former slaves in the north and singing about Lincoln. Also talking about being slaves. The camera man asks a African American army volunteer about Lincoln signing the emancipation proclamation. More singing continues. Cut to. Lincoln’s office with the Secretary of State. Camera interview with the Secretary. The president walks into the room and says that he will sign the emancipation proclamation. Lincoln now signs the Emancipation Proclamation!!! Cut to shot of news reporter Walter Cronkite. There are titles at the end of the film
