Cats, trained previously to manipulate a switch which releases food pellets into their food-box, are put into an experimental cage in pairs. In this social food-getting situation they develop patterns of cooperation, conflict, dominance and active and passive parasitism and these manifestions parallel somewhat those seen in interhuman relationships.
