Contrasts various types of environmental frustrations with those produced by experimental conflict in cats. Points out that increasing the hunger drive (intensity of conflict increased), or constricting the reactive field of the animal by barriers differing in frustration value, accentuates 'NEUROTIC' behavior. If the animal solves the impasse or escapes from the situation many symptoms are alleviated.
